Project Summary:

In 2008, Union Gas Limited (www.uniongas.com) retained ORTECH Environmental (www.ortechconsulting.com), in conjunction with Howe Gastmeier Chapnik Limited (www.acoustical-consultants.com), to prepare an Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) with Limited Operational Flexibility application for all stationary sources of air emissions from Union Gas facilities in Ontario. This application and related information resulted in the current Enbridge Gas Inc operating as Union Gas Limited ECA Number 4459-BJGQQY, issued March 25, 2020.

An ECA requires that the company demonstrate compliance on an on-going basis with Ontario Regulation 419/05, Air Pollution – Local Air Quality under the Environmental Protection Act, applicable Ministry Guidelines for Air and Noise and other performance requirements as specified in the conditions to the ECA. It permits modifications such as process and equipment changes, and addition of new equipment subject to limits on operational flexibility that include the production limit for the facility to be specified on the ECA. The limited operational flexibility conditions expire on March 25, 2030, and an amendment application will be required to renew these conditions.

As required in the ECA, Enbridge Gas Inc operating as Union Gas Limited has made the Emission Summary and Dispersion Modelling (ESDM) Report and Acoustic Assessment (AA) Report Executive Summaries, which contain the Emission Summary Tables and Acoustic Assessment Summary Tables, available on this website. These documents can also be viewed at an Enbridge office location by contacting environment@enbridge.com.
